The truck was recently put back on the road at MATS and has already logged around 25,000 miles. Inside, the interior was finished by Randy at Spare Time with Rockwood floor, dash, and panels, giving the cab a clean and spacious look. The Double Eagle sleeper was completely redone by ATG in LaGrange, Indiana and includes a full shower, bathroom, toilet, microwave/convection oven, sink, and more. David hauls enclosed car trailers and is leased to Intercity Lines out of Massachusetts. What started as a simple cleanup project turned into a unique show truck and rolling display for the Chrome Shack. The original 1971 cab paint inspired the entire build, with the hood, fenders, and beverage trailer paint-matched and weathered to look like they’ve always belonged together. The truck was cut down from a tandem to a single axle, finished with a slick black frame, and paired with a practical display trailer that makes setup at truck shows quick and easy. The Chrome Shack is located off Exit 8 on Interstate 81 in Tennessee and has been serving truckers since 1998. This working W900L is powered by a 3406E Caterpillar with a little extra power, backed by a 13-speed and 3.55 gears.
