Built by JD Fab in Michigan and assembled with a long list of custom 12 Gauge Customs stainless parts, this 300-inch wheelbase Peterbilt follows a “less is more” theme with clean lines, polished details, and a ton of thoughtful custom touches. Built by One of a Kind Customs, this Peterbilt features a 12.7 Detroit, fresh frame-up work, air ride, a clean custom interior, recessed boxes, and a polished setup that still goes back to work. John says he gave the builders free range — and even joked that he handed them a blank check — and the result is a sharp, clean, working show truck with just about everything redone. At the Midwest Truck Fest by Dickerson Custom Trucks at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indiana, Chris caught up with Elaine Larsen and Josette Roach of LMS Jets for an up-close look at two incredible jet dragsters: the Florida Tech Jet Dragster and the House of Kolor Jet Dragster. These machines are powered by General Electric J85 jet engines, the same type of engine used in T-38 and F-5 fighter jets. With around 4,500 pounds of thrust, these cars can go from 0 to 100 mph in about one second and reach nearly 280 mph in roughly five and a half seconds. Elaine and Josette walk us through the cars from nose to tail, explaining the afterburner, parachutes, cockpit controls, safety systems, fuel usage, temperatures, engineering, and what it actually feels like behind the wheel of a jet-powered dragster. They also talk about their racing backgrounds, the House of Kolor connection, Florida Tech’s engineering involvement, and their appreciation for the working show trucks at the Midwest Truck Fest by DCT.
