CJ explains the handcrafted stainless work, air-ride front ends, custom deck plates, recessed frame sections, hidden fender brackets, lighting systems, interior work, and countless small details that separate these trucks from factory builds. Then we get into the two trucks where things really got out of control. Drew explains how his one-of-a-kind crew-cab Kenworth started as a relatively simple project before evolving into a fully customized show truck with PDI performance parts, motorized hookups, custom stainless fabrication, a handcrafted DEF tank, hidden wiring, a custom interior, and approximately 760 horsepower at the wheels—all while retaining its emissions equipment. The centerpiece is Dixieland Delight, a flat-glass Kenworth that was completely transformed for national-level competition. The Cummins was removed and replaced with a heavily modified CAT C16 built by PDI. The cab came off, the engine was moved forward, the entire engine compartment was wire-tucked, and nearly every visible component was either fabricated, polished, chromed, relocated, or redesigned. The result is approximately 1,500 horsepower at the wheels and a national championship-winning Kenworth filled with one-off details that most people will never notice. At the 2026 Large Cars and Guitars Truck Show, Chris caught up with Jackson Sullivan of S&T Construction to check out his hard-working 2007 Peterbilt 379 log truck. This Pete is powered by a C15 ACERT twin-turbo CAT MXS engine backed by a 13-speed Eaton Fuller transmission and 3.36 rears. With 1.7 million miles showing on the dash, this truck still spends its days traveling into logging sites, hauling timber and occasionally making longer runs as far as Ohio. Jackson grew up around the family business and spent years riding in the company’s trucks before his father handed this Peterbilt over to him. Since purchasing it in 2020, the family has completely transformed the truck with new stacks, step boxes, window chops, visors, fenders and plenty of custom details. Even though it regularly travels off-road, the truck is washed as many as four times a week to keep it looking show-ready. The matching log trailer is equipped with approximately 100 lights and four underglow lights that illuminate the entire underside at night. While walking around the 2026 Large Cars and Guitars Truck Show, Chris discovered a working piece of trucking history—a 1972 Autocar dump truck owned by 20-year-old Kaden Brules of Jonesborough, Tennessee. Kaden purchased the truck through Facebook Marketplace for approximately $16,000, and it has been earning its keep ever since. Powered by its original 335 Cummins and equipped with a 13-speed double-overdrive transmission and 680 rear ends, this old-school Autocar regularly hauls rock, shale and loads weighing around 20 tons. The truck may only reach about 55 miles per hour, but it was built to work. Despite being more than five decades old, it still retains much of its original interior, dashboard, steering wheel, badging and Cummins diesel engine. This classic International cabover was discovered on Facebook Marketplace after Colin’s father—who had always wanted one—saw the listing and went to take a look. He didn’t come home empty-handed. The Transtar features a Silver 92 Detroit, 4.10 rear ends, a 13-speed transmission and a beautifully preserved original interior that feels like a true trucking time capsule. It is paired with a 2019 Barrett livestock trailer and is currently being shown while serving as a backup truck for the family’s cattle-hauling operation. Colin recently turned 16, but he already knows exactly what he wants to do: haul cattle. While visiting Shine One Truck Wash & Polish Shop in Emporia, Virginia, Chris caught up with Anthony Taylor, owner of XRoads Logistics, LLC. Anthony is a third-generation truck driver with more than 20 years behind the wheel. Ironically, he grew up disliking driving and traveling—and once swore he would never become a truck driver. After leaving a dead-end sawmill job, he earned his CDL, entered the trucking industry, and convinced his wife to help him start their own business. Today, Anthony operates as a fully independent owner-operator, finding his own freight, serving his own customers, and hauling everything from grain, corn, soybeans and fertilizer to recyclables, glass, road salt and other bulk commodities.
