Meet Erin Barrick from Lincoln, Illinois, and her incredible 1986 Peterbilt 359 named “Hector.” Chris caught up with Erin at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee during the Shell Rotella SuperRigs show, where this black, white, and red 359 immediately stood out in the parking lot. Erin explains how Hector started as an old Florida work truck and was transformed into a show-stopping Peterbilt with custom striping, red hand-painted details, polished aluminum, red underglow, a fresh interior, and a whole lot of personal touches. The stripe layout alone took five full days to lay out, plus even more time planning. This truck is more than just a build — it’s a tribute to Erin’s late grandfather, her family’s trucking history, and the legendary “Black Deuce” sprint car. At the Midwest Truck Fest by Dickerson Custom Trucks at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indiana, Chris caught up with Elaine Larsen and Josette Roach of LMS Jets for an up-close look at two incredible jet dragsters: the Florida Tech Jet Dragster and the House of Kolor Jet Dragster. These machines are powered by General Electric J85 jet engines, the same type of engine used in T-38 and F-5 fighter jets. With around 4,500 pounds of thrust, these cars can go from 0 to 100 mph in about one second and reach nearly 280 mph in roughly five and a half seconds. Elaine and Josette walk us through the cars from nose to tail, explaining the afterburner, parachutes, cockpit controls, safety systems, fuel usage, temperatures, engineering, and what it actually feels like behind the wheel of a jet-powered dragster. They also talk about their racing backgrounds, the House of Kolor connection, Florida Tech’s engineering involvement, and their appreciation for the working show trucks at the Midwest Truck Fest by DCT.
